The Artist

The Alaskan Art Artist and Traildoc is Dr. James Leach III.

Dr. Leach and his best friend, partner and wife Annie, presents the Gallery. Dr. Leach was born in Callaway County, Fulton, Missouri. He has been a practicing veterinary surgeon since graduation from the school of Veterinary Medicine, University of Missouri-Columbia in 1964. He practiced in several areas of the lower 48 before moving to Alaska in 1973.

The art of Traildoc in Alaska is drawn from thirty years of experience on the trails and flying throughout the beautiful state of Alaska. Dr. Leach has been associated with many of the sled dog races in Alaska, and the intercontinental / international sled dog event from Alaska to Chukotka Russia.

Annie and Dr. Leach have traveled at length throughout Alaska practicing veterinary medicine in the bush communities of rural Alaska. They usually travel in their own aircraft they call "3D".

Dr. Leach is a self-taught artist, but has studied with several Alaska artists and attended seminars with the plein-air painters of America. His paintings are displayed throughout the lower `48 states and internationally. Jim is a member of : Plein-air painters of Alaska; Plein-air painters of the Northwest;  Past president of Valley Fine Arts Association

The Traildoc Alaskan Art Gallery presents scenery from the collected flying and visual experiences of Annie and Doc. They feel very fortunate and believe the Lord has truly blessed them in allowing them to share these wonderful and beautiful experiences with you through the paintings of Traildoc in “The Last Frontier”, Alaska.
